Ms. Short's inspiration for art quilts and hangings spring from random lines of poetry, the essence of age-old fables and parables, participation in her community, and -- perhaps most of all -- from her observations and appreciation of the surrounding natural world.

She incorporates multiple fabrics, colors, textures, and embellishments into her work, often layering items to add dimension or using fringe and other elements to add movement. Each piece draws the eye again and again, always to find some new detail.
