Hello All Athenians,
I've just returned from attending Hodaka Days for the first time. I want to tell how much I enjoyed the events and the beautiful town of Athena. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.
Regards, Gordon Jeffery, Calgary, Canada

Excerpts from a post at Yahoo's HODAKA OWNERS GROUP:
Jubal's win in the Trials on Jay's bike, very workmanlike. He and I hit it off. Great kid. Great guys. Meeting Jimmy Pomeroy and Paul Stannard were high points for me. But my 74-year-old Dad's smile said it all... Ed Chestnut stopped by and helped me get my Ace 90 running for the parade. [Thanks for the carb tips, Ed.] Marv Foster ate some of our home-made cookies, looked at some old pictures with us ...
Had to leave for Richland before the scrambles were over but stayed long enough to watch Amy Stannard win her first race watched closely by a nervous Patti and a beaming and very excited Paul. Fell in practice but won her race going away. Way to go - Ame!
Can't wait for Hodaka Days 2005. That 'Classic 100' class will have at least one more entry for Sunday...

Great photos/reports on Hodaka Days. We had a wonderful weekend and look forward to next year already – especially defending the crown … I’ve won my share of trophies, but never a crown!

Thank you to Paul and Patti Stannard as well as the entire Hodaka Days volunteer crew for an excellent weekend – from the seminars to the racing to the bike show to the food it was truly a first class event. I can only see the event getting bigger each year! And having the original PABATCO folks on hand is the cherry on top. Good stuff indeed. My favorite highlight was watching Harry Taylor ride the scrambles track. That man can ride! Go Harry!

A Brief Report on Tradition, Reunion and Winding Down in the Blue Mountains

By Ed Chesnut

A small Hodaka Days tradition seems to be developing. For the second year running, a Monday “wind down picnic” has been organized by the Stannards, Lippiats and Taylors – and I’ve had the pleasure of tagging along. For small town western boys, it seems kind of strange to drive up on the open slopes of the Blue Mountains, park half way off the gravel road, dig out the grub and have a picnic right there! Harry and I voiced that opinion in 2003 – and we joked about it again in 2004. But you know what? The whole concept doesn’t seem so strange any more. Those crazy easterners may be on to something here!

Check out these items of interest:

AND
NO event coming up in 10 minutes.
NO panic to overcome.
NO organizing to do.
NO one expecting ANYONE to do ANYTHING.
NO schedule to keep.

Hmmm, this may not be a bad idea AT ALL!

While goofing around in the Blues, the Big Daddy 175cc Bullfrog and its 125cc descendant were re-united for a photo session and little bit of rock hopping. I am sure glad I lucked into a Cotton tank and got it painted and installed before Hodaka Days this year (it WAS a close call). I wanted my Bullfrog to look good when it met “Dad” again after about 25 years!

Just in case someone might be planning on “leaking” a bit of slightly embarrassing information, I think I’ll fess up – BEFORE it happens. I ran out of gas while goofing off up there! Imagine that, an old 2-Day Qualifier rider running himself out of gas! Baaaad planning. Oh well, it was still a grand afternoon!

Bye for now, Captain Eddie

PS: Keep the rubber side down. . . . and listen to your east coast friends, on occasion they have a really GOOD idea or two!

... site is fun and makes Hodaka Days truly look successful. Thanks for [posting] the photos of me. Now my wife really believes I went to Hodaka Days.......haahhhahahhahhahah {Editor's Note: The author of this note shall remain nameless, to protect the innocent. But think Tie-Dye outfits and Connecticut!}
