
Membership in the Athena Library Friends Association is open to all who support its mission to enhance, support, and expand the Athena Public Library's resources, facilities, and programming. You do not need to live in the library's service district to join ALFA. And, because the ALFA board is committed to very frugal operating and administrative expenses (average of 1%-2% annually), nearly all membership dues was reserved for the Building Fund through FY 2007. After that time, membership dues is able to support additional programming and the establishment of an endowment fund to safeguard against unforeseen circumstances and defray other library furnishing and special project costs.
Your support as a paying member in ALFA is needed. Paid membership also gives you a chance to nominate board candidates, RUN FOR THE BOARD YOURSELF, and to cast votes at the annual meetings. The ALFA membership year runs Feb. 1 – end Jan. The ALFA board has decided on the following dues structure :
Please note that senior means age 65 or more.
Make checks payable to ALFA Membership. Write the membership category of your choice on the MEMO line of your check. Bring your payment to the library or mail to ALFA MEMBERSHIP, PO Box 576, Athena, OR 97813.
At all times, ALFA board and annual meetings areopen to the general public. The public is also welcome to peruse ALFA archives at the library, including meeting minutes, press clippings, etc.
